One of the most difficult aspects of motherhood is hearing your children fight over small matters! My blood starts to boil when I hear them start with the the complaining and fighting. Saint Pope John Paul II stated that “To maintain a joyful family requires much from both the parents and the children. Each member of the family has to become, in a special way, the servant of the others.” What a great quote from Saint JPII; for if we all focus on bringing joy and happiness to each other rather than being selfish, we can develop a more peaceful and joyful home.

Servanthood is not a common occurrence in most American families and is difficult to implement. As moms, we can use these challenging moments to reinforce the idea of servanthood. Saint Pope John Paul II did not just say that the children need to serve one another, but we all need to do it, even moms and dads! The key is to serve others with a joyful heart! As parents we can change the attitude of the house with turning a difficult task into a personal challenge on how to get everyone to work together and get along. These are the life lessons that will prepare our children for life.

So let us evaluate how we are doing with creating a joyful atmosphere in our own home? Can you improve this area of your life and find simple ways to get others to help each other out without asking? trying doing it with a smile and joy in your heart, it is contagious.
